Reuters, Moscow, October 30-Gazprom (GAZP.MM) said that the gas demand of European customers was met on Saturday, after data from a German pipeline operator showed that the pipeline from Poland to Germany through the Yamal-Europe pipeline The supply has reached a stop.

Russia sends natural gas to Western Europe through several different routes, including the Yamal-Europe pipeline with an annual capacity of 33 billion cubic meters through Belarus and Poland.

According to data from the German Gascade operator, traffic at the German Mallnow metering point on the Polish border stopped early on Saturday.

The Russian state-owned company Gazprom stated that the requirements of European customers are being met. It added that fluctuations in demand for Russian natural gas depend on the actual needs of buyers.

A spokesperson for the Polish state-controlled PGNiG (PGN.WA) stated that the traffic from the east was much lower than usual, but Poland still received the amount in line with its contract.

Gaz-System, the gas grid operator in Poland, said on Saturday that the Yamal pipeline is transporting natural gas to Poland through the Kondratki compressor station in the east and Mallnow in the west in a “reverse mode”—meaning it is transporting gas from west to east. .

"There is currently no demand for gas delivery to Germany," a Gaz-System spokesperson said in an e-mailed statement.

Due to the economic recovery and low inventories leading to the surge in European natural gas prices, Russian natural gas export flows are closely watched.

The International Energy Agency and some European lawmakers accused Gazprom for not doing enough to increase gas supply to Europe, but the Russian company said it has been fulfilling its contractual obligations.

The gas transportation agreement between Russia and Poland expired last year, but Gazprom can book transportation capacity through auction pipelines.

In the last auction on October 18, Gazprom booked approximately 32 million cubic meters per day, accounting for 35% of the total additional capacity provided by the Polish operator Gas System through the Kondratki transfer station in November. read more
